This card was selected from A Monument to the Anxious and Hopeful, which was on view at the Rubin Museum in 2018. Created by artist Candy Chang and writer James A. Reeves, the installation invited visitors to write down the reasons why they are hopeful and why they are anxious. After writing down their hopes and anxieties on separate cards, they placed the hopeful cards on the blue side and the anxious cards on the red side. The monument was constantly shifting, growing, and changing as it reflected visitors’ greatest hopes and biggest anxieties.
