Ushnishavijaya is the goddess of longevity,  epitomizing good health and vitality. Her merciful presence bestows protection from physical and mental afflictions.

Ushnishavijaya, Buddha Amitayus, and White Tara are collectively referred to as the Three Long Life Deities. Practitioners recite Ushnishavijaya’s mantras with the intention of leading a long life filled with dharma activity.

This intricate thangka painting was commissioned by a grieving family to commemorate a deceased relative. The lost loved one is depicted in the bottom center of the painting adorned in white clothing and kneeling on a white lotus blossom. The painting features five Tibetan Buddhist teachers, whose presence brings added merit to the deceased relative for an auspicious rebirth.

Ushnishavijaya is associated with transcending limitation and death. She is an embodiment of Prajnaparamita, the Buddhist goddess of wisdom.  As we gaze upon her let us reflect on imbuing our lives with compassion, strength, and vitality.

Michel Pascal, a meditation teacher for 25 years, has led successful programs for prisoners, which help prevent suicides and reduce reoffending. He’s written 20 books on spirituality, including Meditation for Daily Stress: 10 Practices for Immediate Well-Being. Known as “The Medicine Voice,” he’s performed at Carnegie Hall and played at the Peace Day Concert in Times Square in September 2023. In December 2023 he presented his methods at the United Nations.
