The Rubin Museum Distinguished Lecture in Himalayan Art is an annual lecture that features recognized expert insights into the greater Himalayan region’s art, cultures, and history, fostering deeper connections with these rich traditions. The lecture series is supported by the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art and hosted at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The inaugural lecture took place on December 10, 2024. Inspired by The Met’s exhibition Mandalas: Mapping the Buddhist Art of Tibet, scholar Robert Linrothe explored the connection between “outer” and “inner” mandalas. The event was live streamed and a recording of it can be found here.
